Adat Se Majboor is a 1982 Indian Hindi-language film directed by Ambrish Sangal and starring Mithun Chakraborty, Mohan Gokhale, Neena Gupta, Gloria Mahanty, Bijainee Misra, and Lalatendu Rath.

Storyline

Dinanath Shastri (Madanpuri) is a Hindu firefighter who is deeply religious. Shankar (Mithun Chakraborty), his son, takes home a young girl named Salma (Rameshwari) one day because he feels sorry for her. Dinanath believes she is Hindu and calls her Shanti, and considers making her his daughter-in-law when he has an accident and she nurses him and looks after the entire family. Dinanath runs upon a blind guy he recognises as Dr. Varma (Om Shivpuri), whom he has known for many years. Neetu (Ranjeeta Kaur), Dr. Varma’s daughter, and Shankar were childhood sweethearts. This news tears Salma’s heart, but she keeps it to herself. Dr. Varma’s archenemy, the affluent, powerful, and seemingly benevolent Agnihotri (Amrishpuri), discovers his whereabouts and dispatches his thugs to assassinate him. Why would a wealthy and generous guy wish to murder a helpless blind man? What would the pious Dinanath think when he learns that Shanti is Muslim?
