Rita Bahu guna Joshi is an Indian politician. Joshi is the daughter of a former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh named Hem wati Nandan Bahuguna and Kamala Bahu guna, an ex-MP. Rita has been a Cabinet Minister and President of Uttar Pradesh government. She completed her Masters and PhD in History. Rita’s Debut in Political Career

Rita came to politics in 1995 as the mayor of Allahabad. She is currently the cabinet minister in the UP Government. She was also the president of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee from the year 2007-2012.

In 2016, she joined BJP. However, she worked with the Indian National Congress for 24 years before joining Bharatiya Janata Party. Rita Bahuguna Joshi contested in elections to the Lok Sabha for two times but couldn’t win.

In 2012 state elections, Rita was elected as a MLA for the Lucknow Cantonment.
