Obtain work visa in the UK- know your eligible job

Your skilled worker visa primarily allows you to work for a Home Office authorised sponsor licence holder for 5 years in the UK. You can bring your dependents with you and above all this is a direct path to settlement (ILR) and gaining British citizenship.

Documents you must provide

  • You must have a certificate of sponsorship(CoS) reference number from your employer
  • B1 English proficiency certificate
  • Job details
  • Salary offered
  • Travel documents, such as passport
  • Evidence of genuine relationship with spouse and children, if they are applying alongside you
  • Tuberculosis test results, if applicable in your home country.
  • Personal savings account statement such as bank statements, payslips
  • Criminal certificate,if needed
  • You may also need an ATAS certificate, if your job employer needs you to work on sensitive research projects.

Application costs and processing time

A skilled worker visa application has to be made online and the charges can vary depending on your circumstances.

Usually they are between £610 & £1,408. An additional cost of Immigration Health surcharge must be paid, which is £624.

You will also require a minimum expense of £1,270 available to you when you enter the UK in order to sustain yourself, unless you are exempted.

Application from outside the UK

It will cost you £610 for one person for 3 years and £1,220 per person for more than 3 years.

Application from inside the UK

It will cost you £704 for one person for 3 years and £1,408 per person for more than 3 years.

If your job is in the shortage occupation list then you and your dependents will pay a lesser amount of application fee.

For staying up to 3 years, your application fee will cost you £464 and £928 for staying more than 3 years.
